Join us for the grand opening of our new Wetland Discovery Area and Outdoor Classroom! Located below the animal pastures, adjacent to the Settle Lake run marsh, this space is inspired by Rosemary Eaton’s passionate advocacy for Cole Harbour’s Wetlands. In 2023, The Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society received The John Bragg Award. This award empowers communities to share the stories of inspiring people who have shaped Atlantic Canadian history and society. Following months of dreaming, planning, and building - we are thrilled to share the Rosemary Eaton Legacy Project with you!
We are honoured to have Elder Geri Musqua-Leblanc open the space with a smudge and a blessing.
We invite you to learn about the project, enjoy some wetland-themed cookies from the museum’s Rose & Kettle Tearoom, and participate in some evening bird-watching around the wetland with naturalists Jon Stone and Jeff Domm.
The event will formally begin at 6:30 pm, but we invite you to arrive from 6:00 pm to enjoy the sights and sounds of the wetland!
This free event is open to and suitable for all ages. It will take place outdoors and on uneven terrain (grass, gravel, wood chips). Please wear appropriate footwear.
Thank you to the River Phillip Foundation and Canada's History for supporting the Rosemary Eaton Legacy Project.
