Join Us at Grace Café This Summer! Thursdays, 6-8 pmWe are thrilled to invite you to Grace Café, starting Thursday, June 6. Join us for a free dinner in the church house and on the patio at 6 pm.
At 6:30 pm, we will watch an episode of The Chosen, followed by a discussion. Youth will have their own viewing and discussion in a separate room. And yes, we will have childcare available!
The Chosen is a historical drama based on the life of Jesus, seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Jewish oppression in first-century Israel, the series offers an authentic and intimate look at Jesus' revolutionary life and teachings. It delves into the sociopolitical context of the time, highlighting the challenges faced under the Roman Empire and the internal divisions among Jewish factions.
This show helps us see Jesus and the disciples as real people with real struggles, adapting stories from the four gospels. Currently, there are four seasons, with the fifth in production. This summer, we will watch one episode each week from season one.
The first season is set in 1st-century Galilee, where Jesus begins to form his ministry group. He calls a diverse group of individuals, including Mary Magdalene, Thaddeus, Little James, Simon, Andrew, Big James, John, Thomas, and Matthew to join him as he teaches about the kingdom of God. As they travel through Samaria, Jesus performs miracles and launches his public ministry.
This will be wonderful way to enjoy fellowship and allow the life of Christ to touch our hearts.
