About the Topic:
Nowadays the term “Narcissist” is used very often in a quite loosely way and unfortunately downplays most of the times what it actually is and what it does to people that are in any way involved with a person demonstrating the symptoms of a Narcissist. We will learn about what Narcissism is and what it is not. We will learn about what are the criteria for a diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. We will look into Narcissistic traits and behaviors. We will explore how targets of a Narcissist are impacted and what Narcissistic Abuse is. We will have time for discussion and get questions answered.
About the Speaker:
Rita is married, has two sons, two grandchildren and a “grand” dog. She was born and raised in Germany. In Germany she studied Social Work and worked for many years in the field of mental health, addiction and with women in the process of decision making for abortion or giving birth. Rita lived with her family for 10 years in England, where she studied Psychotherapy at Middlesex University and Metanoia Institute. She specialized in the Humanistic Approach Transactional Analysis. In England Rita worked with a wide range of clients and cultural diversity. 21 years ago, Rita moved with her husband and two teenage boys to Michigan. She studied Psychology and earned her degree from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. After working in Community Mental Health, Rita joined a clinic in Troy. She worked with adolescence, adults, and couples. Areas of interest include life transitions, relationship and family issues, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders and personality disorders. In 2022 Rita retired. Rita continues to be very passionate about her profession, attends workshops and keeps her license in place. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, sewing, walking, and spending lots of time with grandchildren and her family. With her husband she always looks forward to go on trips in their touring coach to explore different places in the United States and Canada.
