<h4>Goyt Valley: Shining Tor, Windgather Rocks – 10.5 miles</h4>
Join Finding The Fells for an explore around the Goyt Valley, a stunning beauty spot between Macclesfield and Buxton, for an explore of the surrounding woodland, moorland, panoramic views and even the ruins of a stately home. A great route for those new to running on trails or just wanting to explore somewhere new with the security of a liscenced run leader.
Ideal for: any runners capable of running the full distance (this event isn't aimed at beginner runners). Pace will be sociable with plenty of pausing to admire the views.
Distance & Elevation: 10.5 miles /1,500ft
Terrain: Flagstones, compacted dirt, flagstone paths.
Required kit: off road/grippy running shoes essential, along with buff, waterproof jacket, snacks, water and any personal meds and running pack. Extra long sleeve layer and hat/gloves advised. See https://findingthefells.co.uk/requirements-equipment/ for more details.
Route description:
Starting from the large car park at the western side of the Errwood Dam, we’ll join the wide gravel track northward to Madscar Farm. We’ll continue north crossing the River Goyt twice before turning west and ascending to Taxal Edge then head south passing Windgather Rocks, Pym Chair, Cat’s Tor to the trig at Shining Tor. We’ll then work our way back towards Errwood reservoir (possibly taking in the ruins of Errwood Hall) and back to the start.
Meeting at 8:45am – plentiful parking.
