The Surinamese-Guyanese singer-songwriter YoungBoss grew up surrounded by Afro-Caribbean and South American rhythms, which still flow through his music in an energetic mix of reggae, dancehall, rap, trap, afrobeat and sranan pokoe. His musical foundation was partly shaped by his father, Prince Koloni, himself a musician and known for his work in reggae and kaseko. That versatile background is reflected in his sound, in which he seamlessly blends different styles.In tracks such as ‘Bushinengé’ and ‘Sranang Tongo’, his identity comes to the fore, with a direct link to language, roots and rhythm. Through collaborations with artists such as Dylisa, Architrackz and Jonna Fraser, he has already expanded his reach within the Dutch music scene. As a logical next step, he will now make his debut in our Main Hall on Friday 26 June.
