About Jimmy’s Music Club
STILL REAL AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, AND now reborn
From The Neville Brothers and Nine Inch Nails to the sound of right now, the soul of New Orleans music has found its home again, established in 1978. Reborn 2025.
About Gov't Majik
Gov’t Majik - 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Gov’t Majik. Also known by our moniker - The Dirty South Afro-Beat Arkestra, we specialize in blending afro-beat and other world music styles with the funk, jazz, rap, and rock & roll we grew up on to come up with something musically that could only occur here in New Orleans. Propulsive rhythms with deep bass lines and a heavyweight horn section are our calling card. When you put it all together, we end up somewhere between Fela, Outkast, and Kool & The Gang. Twenty years in the game, and it feels like we’re only now scratching the surface of what’s possible with our writing, recording, and bringing new music to the stage going forward! We’ve got a tremendous new singer and front person in Ten Spencer who’s soul, passion, and movement drive the band to new heights. We are inspired to carry our songs of hope, love and resistance into these trying times,s and we know that together anything is possible!
