About this Event
P&T Knitwear is thrilled to launch our first in house book group: the Gotham Book Club —meeting once a month to discuss our favorite fiction and nonfiction about New York City.
This month, we'll be reading & discussing Times Square Red, Times Square Blue by Samuel R. Delany. Forty-second Street, then the most infamous street in America, was being remade into a sanitized tourist haven, in which Delany saw a disappearance, not only of the old Times Square, but of the complex social relationships that developed there. In this groundbreaking hybrid text, Delany argues for the necessity of public spaces to a city's physical and psychological landscape. Times Square Red, Times Square Blue is a landmark book that catalogs a vibrant but disappearing neighborhood in New York City.
- This is a ticketed in-store event with limited amphitheater-style seating.
- Cost of a $5 general admission ticket can be applied towards your purchase of next month's book club pick or any product in our café the night of the book club meeting.
- We encourage all guests to wear masks.
- If you would like a copy and cannot attend the event, we're happy to take your pre-order for this month's book or next. We ship most places!
