What a match-up! In the late 1970s, counterculture was looking for its next step after punk. Some bands explored dark, atmospheric sounds focused on melancholy, mysticism, and existential exploration. Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, The Cure, and Bauhaus began to make serious headway in radio-play. Many years later, another genre would apply this same aesthetic. Emo was born as a subgenre of post-hardcore. While more aggressive, upbeat, and heavy than goth, emo bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Taking Back Sunday, and AFI proved that emotion in music was still viable. Join us for a musically diverse, aesthetically interesting, and wildly fun show!
