The first running of the Got Your Back 5k was in 2014 to celebrate and provide support to Texas State Head Athletic Trainer, David Gish, as he fought a battle against cancer. David lost his battle, but we continue to run the race to honor David and support other families and Texas State Alumni as they fight against cancer.The beneficiary of the 2025 Got Your Back 5k will be named at a later date.
