For the 2022 snow season we're hosting just FOUR group ski trips starting in July (this is the second of them) and we're staying on-mountain actually in the snow, in a rustic ski chalet / lodge with bunks for 20 people.
This year we are leaving Auckland earlier - 1pm, so you can work a half day then meet the bus!
This earlier departure means we can arrive at a more decent hour on mountain than past years, so we can safely park the bus and get up to the ski hut (often in the snow and icy roads!).
This years accommodation choice means our group are 'first on the slopes' Saturday and Sunday, and it's more of an adventure hiking to the hut on our arrival.
We will be skiing / boarding on Whakapapa side both days (any Turoa visits will be clearly advertised and may be at an extra cost due to the extra drive time and fuel).
Who are these trips for?
These trips are for all skill levels, so beginners through to pros are invited: everyone is welcome but ages 12yo+ please as we are mostly a grown-up crowd, with wines / drinking at dinner time totally accepted.
Once on the mountain, each person 'does their own thing', whether that's getting lessons in Happy Valley, or heading right to the top of the West t-bar.
We suggest people of the same skill level hang out, share skills, help one another. At minimum, we catch up at lunch time (usually Knoll Ridge cafe!).
Our friendly crew will help first timers get rental gear, find their way to the slopes and show you the cafes. You will be supported, no matter what level you're at.

DETAILS:
Bus tickets:
Meet 1pm outside Archie Café, Ponsonby, Auckland. We will have you back to Ponsonby around 8pm Sunday.
We can also get you at Bombay, Taupiri, Whatawhata, Pirongia along the way with prior agreement.
Self drive tickets:
Self drive is ONLY for people who live outside of our bus route (e.g from Wellington, Taranaki, Palmy). Please save these limited self-drive tickets for those from outside the bus route so they have a chance to join us too.
You can leave home whenever you wish, but please arrive to National Park, likely around 5pm. We will then drive you up the hill (leave your car in National Park), or you can meet us at the Top of the Bruce Road around 6pm all going well. Important you stay in touch with driver via text.
NB - there is space on the bus for your skis/boards/bags but we ask you pack light! Do not bring suitcases, because they are heavy to get to the hut in the snow!

Gear List:
BYO food (breakfast Saturday + Sunday and shared dinner Saturday night). Full kitchen provided but not always oils / spreads.
Drinks if you wish (Sat night).
Head torch (for walk to hut or in case of power-outage), very warm gear, snow boots are recommended for walking in the snow. Crampons are not a bad idea, for the icy driveway.
Sleeping bag and pillow + pillow case
Bring a change of clothes for the ski lodge, your ski gear (drying room provided)

Cancellations:
Cancellations with at least 2+ weeks notice will be 100% refunded.
Cancellations with less then 2 weeks notice will not be refunded except for extreme circumstances, and then we ask you try and replace yourself with someone else.
