About this Event
GOSH!feratu
From ancient folkloric roots to Bram Stoker's seminal Dracula (1897), all the way to Robert Eggers' cinematic reimagining of Nosferatu (2024), the presence of the vampire has long darkened our collective dreams.
Join us down in the Curio crypt for an evening of bloodthirsty discussion, tracing the evolution of the vampire mythos through time and art.
We'll be joined by the extraordinary Dr Roger Luckhurst, professor of 19th century and contemporary literature at Birkbeck, University of London, and author of such cobwebbed tomes as Gothic: An Illustrated History (2021) and Zombies: A Cultural History (2015). Also in attendance will be Oxford's very own prince of darkness, Mr Jason Atomic. A longstanding scion of the underground comix scene, Jason is an artist, curator and co-founder of the Satanic Flea Market.
So say 'Yes'feratu, and sink your teeth into all things vampiric! You'd be batty to miss it. The stakes will be high, but the presenters won't be (probably).
As with all Curio events, audience participation is highly encouraged... so don't forget your cape!
