Our town is grieving. We have experienced a senseless act of violence. In times like this, we are reminded of how deeply connected we are—and how much we need one another.Local folk artist and community hero, The Gooney Bird artist, has organized a fundraiser to benefit Southport Cares, an organization that steps in to help victims and families facing unspeakable tragedies like the one we experienced last weekend.
Date: Saturday, October 18
Time: 9 am to 11 am, or as long as supplies last
Place: Builders FirstSource parking lot, 1609 N. Howe St.
Gooney Bird paintings of all shapes and sizes will be sold for donations. Suggested prices start at $5. In addition, there will be t-shirts and raffles for unique Gooney Bird paintings. The children's picture book, "The Gooney Birds of Southport", will also be available.
Details: This is a CASH ONLY event. At this time, the Gooney Bird artist does not ship. Please come early and bring your questions. Someone from the artist's posse will be there to help you!
We invite you to join us as we gather in compassion, strength, and hope. Together, we can lift up the families who are hurting, honor the lives we lost, and remind each other that even in the darkest moments, love and care prevail.
