Goods exchange weekends are a City-wide coordinated effort to keep usable goods out of the landfill by finding them new homes. By turning the curbside into a free marketplace, residents can put out reusable and gently used items that can be re-homed by neighbours. How to participate:
- Clearly label items you wish to give away as “FREE” and place them at the curb after 5 p.m. on Friday, August 29 after 5 p.m.
- Move bikes, toys, and gardening tools away from the curb to prevent misunderstandings.
- Over the weekend, tour your neighbourhood to see what great deals you can find at the curb.
- All leftover items must be removed from the curb by 7 p.m. on Monday.
- If you still have items left after the weekend, you can call our Solid Waste Resources team to book a bulky item pickup.
- Large items left at the curb may be subject to fines or fees under Guelph’s Waste Management Bylaw.
