- Introduction to clown-play
- Expanding physicality (within your limits)
- Clown character development
- Audience engagement and relationship building
- The thrills of mischief and "failure" - reframing clown flops as gifts!
- Being more present on stage
Good Trouble is a beginner clown class where you’ll start to unravel the endless possibilities of creativity through clowning.
This class will scratch the surface on SO much more to come!
Great for performers of all kinds and ANYONE wanting to expand their imagination and sense of joyful play.
This course will include guided direction from facilitator Melissa G., supporting to tune into your distinct clown voice - leading to a class show at the end of term.
Will it be fun? YES!

Melissa (she/her) is a clown, comedian, writer and artist based in Montreal. She is proudly queer. Melissa is healthily obsessed with clown work.
She has run her workshop "Play in the Everyday: The Art of Expanding Play through Clown work" in Montreal and Toronto.
She has taught her first SOLD-OUT "Good Trouble: Intro to Clown" course with an upcoming grad show November 13th, 9pm at Notre Dame des Quills (32 Beaubien E.)!!!
Melissa is a comedy show producer, teacher and coach and was a behind-the-scenes supporter of Ladyfest Montreal (2022, 2023, 2024) and performed her clown act Real Live Doll at Montreal Sketchfest 2024.
She has studied clown and idiot work with Ken Hall, Isaac Kessler, Kevin Krieger, John Gilkey, Amrita Dhaliwal & Gemma Soldati.
Melissa has extensive training in improv from Second City Training Centre (Toronto), Bad Dog Theatre Company (Toronto), The Assembly (Toronto) and Montreal Improv.
