About this Event
As part of Good to Grow Week (22 - 29 April 2024), Stanley Picker Gallery will be running a special kids art workshop on Saturday 27 April 11am - 12:30pm, in collaboration with our local community partners Hogsmill Community Garden. There will be activities such as painting flower pots, and then potting them up with summer flowering plants at the community garden.

You will also be able to visit Stanley Picker Fellow Thomas Pausz's solo exhibition, (24 April – 13 July 2024), a show inspired by the ecology of the Hogsmill river.
Stanley Picker Gallery is situated on an island on the Hogsmill, a tributary to the Thames. The ecology of this chalk stream is increasingly endangered due to excessive extraction of water and increasing sewer discharge, which change the nutrient level of the water as well as introduce polluting substances. The installation echoes the transformations of the river over time, and traces how from Millais’ Ophelia painting and Muybridge’s landscape photography to contemporary digital image making techniques, the media constellations we design evolve with and change our perception of the ecosystem.
