About this Event
WARNING - This exhibition contains sexual imagery and injury detail which is not suitable for children under the age of 15. Other images may be frightening to some people. Viewer discretion is advised.
DESCRIPTION - Visual artist, Ian Moir, is displaying his private collection of plaster death masks, cast from historical figures including Napoleon, Nietzsche, Dante, Himmler, Goethe, Churchill and many more. Also on display are a collection of finely crafted paintings by an award winning artist, fascinated by humankind's ongoing engagement with good and evil, virtue and sin.
Ian Moir's paintings borrow from different genres in art history to show that as culture changes, human nature does not. Some pieces are reminiscent of 15th Century religious art, others have a modern, pop art style, depicting iconic books and figurines.
Expect a visual feast that invites you to "gaze into the abyss" of the human soul!
This exhibition is supported by Carnegie Dunfermline Trust.
