About this Event

Join us in this London wellbeing hub to experience music, breathwork, gongs and other instruments to relax and restore both your mind and body. The sound and vibrations from the gongs help to centre the mind, calm the nervous system, and restore vitality to the body.

As well as having a yoga studio upstairs, OMNOM has an excellent plant based resturant downstairs. The perfect place for a bite to eat after our session! Even better, when you eat at OmNom, someone else eats too. For every meal they serve, they feed a child a hot, healthy, nutritionally balanced meal in the developing world providing relief from poverty. Check out the menu here.

Address: Islington Square, 116N Upper St, London N1 1QP

Everyone is welcome - experienced meditators and those curious to try a gong bath for the first time. The beauty of a gong bath meditation is that anyone can enjoy it, no experience necessary. (Please see note below about circumstances where gong baths might not be suitable).

Here are a few suggestions for what to bring:

• Something to lie on, such as a yoga mat

• A blanket or warm jumper

• A pillow for your head

• Something to cover your eyes with

IMPORTANT NOTE: Gong baths are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker, anyone who suffers from fits (epileptics), or anyone who is extremely sensitive to sound. They are also not recommended for women in the first trimester of pregnancy due to the unstable nature of pregnancy during that time. If you wear a hearing aid, your device should be turned off during the session. If you have any concerns, please speak with your doctor in advance.

Who will be leading the session?

This session will be led by Mark Smallman. Mark trained in Naad Yoga (the yoga of sound) and uses a variety of instruments, ambient music and breathwork to create a unique space. He has always been interested in the ability of music and sound to calm the mind. When he had his first gong bath, he was blown away by the ability of the instrument to induce effortless meditation. Inspired by a quote from the late DJ Andrew Weatherall who said ‘you’re never going to have that feeling of hearing a record for the first time again, but if you look into the eyes of someone who’s hearing it for the first time... it’s the next best feeling’, he's keen to share the positive energy of the gong with people who have not already encountered it.

Where else can I experience gong baths?

GONG also offers a daily schedule of virtual gong baths via Zoom as well as private sessions for teams. You can learn more about at www.aboutgong.com, say hi on Instagram at www.instagram.com/gongstories.
