The Task:
We will be glade creating along with building a hibernacula.
What is a hibernacula we hear you cry! In wildlife conservation and gardening, a hibernaculum is a specific type of structure created to provide a safe, protected habitat for cold-blooded creatures during their hibernation (brumation) period.
Timings (please note these timings are approximate):
10.00: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!
11.30: Tea & coffee break
13.00: Lunch time, please bring your own
15.30: Work finishes, time to go home!
What to Bring:
Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.
Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.
Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's sunny you may need a hat and suncream.
Please bring a plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.
Please note:
Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.
Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
