About:
Gridlock is a Chicago-based locking initiative dedicated to practicing, preserving, sharing and celebrating locking, a funk dance style pioneered by Don "Campbellock" Campbell in LA in the late 60s/early 70s. While locking has grown and is now practiced worldwide, we want to give it a stronger voice and presence in Chicago. Founded by five Chicago dancers who connected through our shared passion for locking, Gridlock is committed to bringing in teachers and creating welcoming spaces for our community to learn about this dance form."On the One" is an evening for anyone and everyone to get together and celebrate funk music and dance. You can expect DJs spinning funk and disco all night - dancing inevitable but not required.Let us know if there's any other info we can provide you with. We will follow up with the flier and DJ information. We are planning to get two DJs.
