Afternoon event combining Dahlonega Gold Museum and Crisson Gold Mines. FEES for the gold museum are $4.32 for students and $7.56 for parents. FEES for Crisson Gold Mine is variable, if we have 20 or more it is $12 (plus tax) and under 20 is $15.95 (plus tax) including under 4 are free with each paid admission. If we have more than 20 they will run the 140-year-old stamp mill for us, so I am hoping we meet 20 people. Fees can be sent to CashApp $ShellyDeLee and memo Gold/Family Name; however, wait til closer to time to determine the gold mining fee.Activities for the day include:
Gold Museum: @ 12:30 we will be there about 45-60 minutes... a guided tour of the exhibits, including learning about the Gold Rush, the Dahlonega Branch Mint, the methods of gold mining, and the history of the Lumpkin County Courthouse. Also included is our award-winning 17 minute film
Crisson Gold Mine: Picnic Lunch (bring your own) at the picnic table then we will all gather for mining at 2:30 which will include Educational self-guided walkthrough museum tour. One sample pan of gold dirt. One two-gallon gemstone bucket. Gold panning instruction. Gemstone identification instruction. Keep everything you find!
If we meet the 20 person minimum they will also include... running our 140-year-old stamp mill and other historic mining equipment, as well as, tell the history of gold mining in Dahlonega and the history of Crisson Gold Mine.
