The Center of the Borderlands proudly presents a special screening of Going Varsity in Mariachi, a powerful documentary by Alejandra Vasquez and Sam Osborn. Join us for an inspiring evening as the filmmakers present their work, followed by a panel discussion offering behind-the-scenes perspectives and reflections on their creative journey.
About the Film:
In the competitive world of high school mariachi, the musicians from the South Texas borderlands reign supreme. Under the guidance of Coach Abel Acuña, the teenage captains of Edinburg North High School’s acclaimed team must turn a shoestring budget and diverse crew of inexperienced musicians into state champions.
