The GM Hangout is for you! This is a come-and-go event where you can chat with fellow GMs and soon-to-be GMs, get and give advice and encouragement, and get excited about all things TTRPG. We’ll be at Lenexa Public Market every other month on the 3rd Saturday from 1 pm-3 pm. RSVP on our website to let us know to expect you!
✏️Uhh, what is a GM?
So glad you asked! GMs or Game Masters are typically the person in charge of (or at least facilitating) a tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) for a group. Often they are the ones most familiar with the game system, have prepared some sort of adventure or obstacle for the player characters to encounter during their play session, will act as characters and creatures the players may interact with, and arbitrate rules and play at the table. Depending on your system and players, sometimes a GM has to be a researcher, teacher, writer, designer, craftsperson/artist, actor, referee, therapist, and host. It can be a lot to try to keep up with! Despite all that, if you’ve played enough sessions of a roleplaying game that you feel like you have set expectations for what a session will be like, then you’re probably ready to start GMing!
