Glorious Gardens - Quilts & Their InspirationJoin us for a couple of hours with Gail Lawther, have a bite to eat, a glass of wine and listen to a fabulous talk from Gail. After her talk you will be have the opportunity to handle some of Gail's many quilts.
Flowers and plants have probably inspired more artists and craftspeople down the ages than any other motifs, and in this talk Gail Lawther celebrates gardens of all types.
Gail is well travelled, a superb quilter, textile artist and speaker. She brings with her a wide variety of quilts, large and small, created in many different techniques: formal topiary, colourful cottage gardens and magnificent trees will all make an appearance! Gail explains how her travels and the many, many gardens she has visited have influenced her quilted creations.
Lessons can be learned just hearing Gail talk about her work plus you have the opportunity to see quilts made by a distinguished stitcher. She loves to pass on tips and techniques to make this lovely craft accessible to everyone.
Gail has taught all over the UK, Spain, Ireland, New Zealand, the Channel Islands, France, Belgium and Holland. She has worked full-time in fabric and thread for more than 20 years. She designs and stitches quilts for books and patterns and also create pieces on commission.
Gail's talk will start at 6.15pm but your light supper will be available from 5.45pm. It is anticipated that the evening will end at approximately 8.15pm.
