China Business Briefing is a series of panel discussions held at LSE. It is part of our Executive Education Programme Chinese Language and Culture for Business (CLCB) modules and it is also open to the public. The topic of the next session will be: "Global innovation for new medicine development – how business and patients benefit from new approaches to cross border partnerships ".
Hybrid event: accessible both online and on-campus at LSE. After successful registration, the online zoom link and on-campus venue information will be shared with participants a few days ahead of the event via email.
About the topic:
Disease knows no borders , with cancer, infectious disease, cardiovascular and auto immune disease being just a few of the examples of disorders affecting populations of all races and on all continents
With that in mind, sharing and exchanging innovative ideas, learnings and resources across borders and disciplines is as important as ever.
The talk will provide case studies focused on recent cross border biotech and pharma partnerships involving China and other countries across the globe.
Key results, success factors and lessons learned will be discussed and how we make sure to always be one step ahead of the game for the benefit of patients, scientific progress and business across the world.
A bout the speakers:
Maria is Chief Operating Officer and Head of Innovent Biologics (Europe). In this role, she is responsible for Innovent European Operations including product development, commercialisation and business development. Maria has almost twenty years of experience in the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Prior to joining Innovent, Maria was most recently Global Head of Transactions for Oncology R&D Business Development and Licensing at AstraZeneca. She started her professional career as a research fellow in immunology at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA), then worked in business development at Cell Genesys (San Francisco, USA) prior to moving to London to join IPSEN. At IPSEN, she was initially responsible for oncology business development and then subsequently promoted to Vice-President Global Oncology Portfolio Management . In this capacity, she lead the global cross functional team responsible for global oncology development and commercialization strategy and implementation. Maria has an M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (Copenhagen, Denmark), a Ph.D. in Tumor Immunology from ICRF/UCL (London, UK) and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley (USA). She joined Innovent in September 2020 and is based in Innovent London, UK offices. She also continues to serve on the Council and the Finance Committee of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce (UK). She speaks fluent Swedish, French, Danish, German and English and intermediate Mandarin.
