About this Event

Small Island Big Song is a union of musicians from Madagascar to Rapa Nui/Easter Island, Taiwan to Zenadth Kes/ The Torres Strait singing out from their Islands across the ocean, reuniting a shared ancestry of the seas. In the spirit of storytelling before the current borders were drawn, this film is an Oceanic Songline, a timely and uplifting musical plea for environmental and cultural awareness from those on the frontline of the climate crisis. We are honored that artists from Small Island Big Song and the film’s director Tim Cole will be joining us for a post-film discussion. This screening is part of Small Island Big Song’s residency at NC State, which will culminate in their performance at Stewart Theatre on April 12.

Runtime 1 hour 23 minutes. Watch the trailer here.

The Global Film Series is a collaboration between the NC State University Libraries and NC State's Office of Global Engagement. This screening is a special partnership with NC State LIVE.
