About this Event
The global unplugged movement is gaining momentum and, this year, Portland is set to participate.
Psychologist and author doreen dodgen-magee (Deviced! Balancing Life & Technology in a Digital World & Restart: Designing a Healthy Post Pandemic Life) has been helping folks put their phones down in order to have fiery, emobodied experiences for twenty years. Join her, and your neighbors, in this fun, interactive (or not), embodied play/rest/create time.
Join us for this event, intended to help you:
Take a break from the noise and return to your self and eachother.
Regulate your central nervous system by being away from screens and the content they deliver.
Explore embodied activities (including restful ones) that are as fun, if not more, than anything you can do with your phone.
Gain skills that will enable you to live through awkward social moments and tolerate boredom (both super powers in today’s world).
Connect more deeply and meaningfully with yourself and, if you choose, others.
What to expect at this event:
Warm, hospitable spaces that embrace you as your full self, just as you are. If you’re a headphones person, you’re welcome to wear them. If you’re socially awkward, you’re celebrated here. These events are for real people having an in-the-moment time alongside each other.
Ample opportunities to rest, play, or create either with objects/projects you bring or with all the fun offerings we’ll have on hand (e.g: legos, brain flakes, creative supplies, games, puzzles, etc)
Time totally by yourself in the presence of others or, if you prefer, opportunities to engage with other participants.
Schedule (to be updated as new information arises):
