About this Event
Welcome to Glass House at The Mission Theatre Bath! This is the debut performance of Sandcastles Productions, a student-led theatre company founded in Bath and run by young people attending university in Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Durham. Glass House, the company's first original production, will be performed at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe festival - but will be kicking off its Summer run in Bath for a one-night-only showing!
'Glass House' is a one act Drama which explores the ever-present, grimy underbelly of the human beast with an unwavering intimacy. A boundary-pushing piece of mocku-theatre, the play is interspliced with pre-recorded interviews with the 'real-life' inspirations for the on-stage characters as they tell their renditions of what happened on the supposedly historic night of February 14th , 2011- whereupon the longest recorded stop at a bus shelter in British transport history took place. The play uncovers how, on a night of unrelenting rain and flooding in the English countryside, a standoff between a bus driver clinging to the rules and a houseless man who can't afford a ticket inexorably leads into a mire of tension and social conflict.
