About this Event
In this class students will make their very own glass garden and animal menagerie! Using borosilicate glass, a torch, and simple tools, students will learn to create animals including birds, dinosaurs, fish, turtles, fantastical creatures, and more. We will learn flame control, hot seals, bridging, and assembly methods to produce colorful flowers that bloom all year round. Bring home your own miniature glass zoo and bouquet! This workshop will be great for beginners, and open to students of all levels of experience.
What to Expect: This class is great for all levels, from absolute beginners, to seasoned flameworkers looking to brush up on their skills. The instructor will provide plenty of demonstrations with in-depth explanation, as well as ample work time for students to create at the torch! During work time, the instructor and students will work through concepts one on one, discuss ideas, and trouble shoot any problems so that students will get the most out of the class. Students will walk away with a number of glass animals, flowers and plants.
Clean-up time is included in the duration of class, and usually the last 20 minutes of class are dedicated to cleaning your workstation. Read more about how to prepare for class on our Registration Info page.
Eligibility: This workshop is designed for students with flameworking experience with borosilicate glass. Open to ages 14 and up.
Pick-up: The glass needs to cool down overnight, so the students will have to return to UrbanGlass once notified to pick up their work.
We recommend registering for classes early to reserve your spot! We base materials, and teacher needs off of student enrollment. Early registration not only guarantees your spot in class, but also helps to ensure the class will run. Classes with low enrollment may be cancelled within two weeks of the start date of class. Contact our Registrar of Education, Ari Eshoo, at [email protected] if you have questions about the class or would like to arrange a payment plan.
