About this Event
SWAN Places are in-person social meet-up groups in locations across Scotland. They are autistic spaces, run by autistic volunteers.
These local groups are relaxed and laid-back gatherings for all women and non-binary people who identify as autistic.
They are safe and confidential spaces, facilitated by autistic volunteers.
SWAN Places are not structured support groups, but rather an opportunity to benefit from community and connection in an all-autistic space.
You can share, listen, or simply relax among like-minded peers who understand and support one another.
Please read our Guidelines & Rules before you come along to any of our SWAN Places groups, to help ensure they are safe, supportive and friendly spaces.
Who is this group for?
SWAN groups are safer spaces for autistic women and non-binary people over-18 who live, work or study in the local area.
SWAN is inclusive of all autistic women and non-binary people, including those who are exploring whether they are autistic, who self identify as autistic or are clinically diagnosed (private or NHS).
If these descriptions do not match you, we ask that you do not attend our groups unless they are specifically stated to be for non-autistic individuals. If you are a non-autistic person wishing to learn more about autism, visit our website for workshops and training: swanscotland.org/training
Accessibility
We aim to make our groups as accessible as possible - they are run and designed by autisic people, in accessible venues.
If there is anything we can do to make the experience more accessible for you please do get in touch with us ahead of the meet up:
You can see a picture of the entrace to the libary below, and a short video showing how to find the room (and the toilet!) so you know what to expect when you arrive.
