About this Event
Join us for the Glasgow 850 Engineering Walk!
The River Clyde has always been at the heart of Glasgow and to celebrate the city’s 850th birthday, this engineer guided walk will explore the infrastructure and engineering that have shaped it’s transformation from an ecclesiastic settlement, through it’s days as a trade hub and an industrial powerhouse, to today’s vibrant and cosmopolitan city.
The walk, by members of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Glasgow and West of Scotland Branch, will explain the engineering behind Glasgow’s identity, from fishing and ferries to ship building and trade, railways, cars and today’s net Zero challenge.
The walk will start from the Millennium Bridge at Glasgow Science Centre, walking towards the city centre.
