About Roberto Gonzalez:
Roberto J. Gonzalez was elected to the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in August 2024 with a wide majority, becoming the first District 11 candidate in recent memory to qualify by signature.
Since taking office, he has focused on improving quality of life in West Kendall, with priorities including protecting homeowners in HOAs and condos, combating child sex trafficking, supporting law enforcement, and promoting clean streets and better parks. He serves as Chair of the Safety and Health Committee, Vice Chair of the Housing Committee, and as a member of the Airport and Appropriations Committees.
Born in Guatemala, Commissioner Gonzalez legally immigrated to the U.S. as a child, grew up in Miami, and became a U.S. citizen in 2014. A graduate of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Dade College, and Saint Thomas University, he earned his law degree in 2014 and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2015. As the founding partner of his own law firm, he is a strong advocate for education, mentorship, civic engagement, small businesses, and expanded economic opportunity.
