Join us on Saturday, November 9th in the Community Room at the main campus of the Mansfield-Richland County Public Library for a lecture and open discussion about G.K. Chesterton's famous "Ethics of Elfland" and how it can enrich our lives today.Since the so-called Enlightenment of the 18th century, we have been in an age of rationalism. Science has greatly expanded our knowledge of the natural world, but has this progress come at a cost? Have we lost our sense of wonder? Is it appropriate if we have? Are the laws of nature necessary or contingent? What do fairy tales teach us about reality? Have we forgotten who we are? Join us to explore these questions with the help of Chesterton and others who have challenged the rationalist consensus of modernity.
Doors open at 9:45 AM. The lecture will begin at 10:15 AM and conclude by 11 AM. The conference room will remain open until noon for fellowship. All are welcome and the event is free to attend.
