Class Length: One day, 5pm-6:30pm, Saturday January 24th
Class Description: Give the potter’s wheel a spin during our one-time, crash course in throwing on the wheel! Whether you are looking for your next creative challenge or a unique outing idea, get ready to have fun & get muddy! We will start off with a SUPER quick demonstration and then set you free!
We provide two pounds of clay per student and all other necessary materials. The instructor will walk you through step by step on how to make a wheel thrown piece. It’s a perfect chance to learn the basics of wheel throwing while enjoying the company of friends and other creative folks. This class is especially designed for those who have never used the wheel or who are working on basic skills.
You will need to return after two weeks to pick up your finished piece and we discard finished products after one month.
We guarantee the class and experience, but not the end product; sometimes pieces break in the kiln due to construction imperfections.
There will be no entrance 10 minutes after the start of the workshop. In addition, students may only keep one piece of work and there are no exceptions for additional pieces.
If you find that you enjoy yourself and want to give it a real go- we suggest taking a weekly class!
Age Limitations: Ages 14 through adult
Supplies Included: Students should bring their own hand towel and dress comfortably! Please don’t wear dangling jewelry or flowy/long sleeves, long hair should be pulled back and wear closed-toed shoes, the floors can get slippery. If you have very long nails, you WILL find wheel throwing difficult so please trim them WAY down. You WILL be getting dirty, so wear an apron or lay a large towel over your lap, or wear clothes you don’t mind getting clay on.
