Traversing the boundaries of contemporary dance and gender, Girl’s Notes intimately challenges the question: How should women behave? In a boundary-pushing work that is equal parts performance art and contemporary dance, artist/dancer SU Pin-Wen and pianist LIN Mai-Ke draw inspiration from a 1990s Taiwanese book instructing women on how to behave.
With their captivating on-stage presence, witness the duo explore the intentions behind our everyday actions. Challenging heteronormative notions of gender, feminism and nudity, SU transforms dance into a powerful examination of gender dynamics and women’s sexuality within relationships. Avant-garde, abstract, and physical, this work prominently features the naked body of the gender non-conforming artist, boldly redefining contemporary dance.
