ABOUT EMRD: Enchanted Mountain Roller Derby (EMRD) is a skater-operated, non-profit league based in Olean, NY. The league was founded in 2010 and plays under the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) rules and policies. EMRD’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of the community.
“We currently have one team, the Hellbilly Heartbreakers, but we are continuously working to grow our pool of skaters. We encourage anyone with an interest to come, meet the skaters, and ask questions! When we say, ‘no experience necessary’, we truly do mean that. Many of our current skaters didn't even know how to skate or properly put on their gear when we had our first practice.”
“On February 7th at DCT, we plan to showcase some blocking drills and the basics of jamming, blocking, and gameplay. We would also like to walk through the basic philosophy of the game and how it's played. Most of all, we'd love to show people the true close-knit dynamic and growth mindset of the team. Too many people think that you have to be "better" before you can join, or that it's a ‘young people’s' sport, and neither of those things are true!"
