Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!
Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events which are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together and take over the mats! Women and girls of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend from any academy affiliation. We welcome beginners and don't require any experience. Our events are designed for 100% participation. However, we do allow parents or chaperone to accompany underage participants as spectators.
Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.
You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.
GIG Arizona-Tucson Guest instructors: Brenda Soto & Vonnie Moore
Brenda Soto is an accomplished practitioner in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, dedicating over 16 years to mastering the craft. In 2018 she attained the rank of black belt. Brenda's skills on the mats have been recognized with notable victories, including holding the title of Pan American champion multiple times, both as a brown belt and black belt division. In 2010, Brenda and her husband founded the Daimyo Academy, a beacon of excellence in the Jiu-Jitsu community, where they have passionately nurtured aspiring martial artists. Passionate about empowering women of all ages, Brenda understands the transformative power of Jiu-Jitsu, believing it to be a channel for cultivating confidence, self-love, and resilience in all aspects of life. Her unwavering commitment to helping others achieve their goals reinforces her vision of a world where every woman can harness their inner strength and realize their full potential through the art of Jiu-Jitsu.
Vonnie Moore’s jiu jitsu journey started in February 2014. It has been a journey of health, self reflection, building friendships and growth through Paragon Arizona. The growth has not only been In learning the beautiful art, but also in mental fortitude and self care. Jiu jitsu has forced Vonnie to face her fears through training and competitions. Throughout the years of coaching at The Eyrie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Daimyo Brazilian jiu jitsu, Vonnie blessed to share the love of jiu jitsu with others while encouraging and supporting them through their own journey. Jiu Jitsu has helped Vonnie on and off the mats. Preparing her with mental and disciplinary fortitude that has helped her grow in her professional career. While also working through both her first and toward second Masters degree. She received her Black belt in 2023 under Professor Manuel Flores and Professor Brenda Soto at Daimyo Brazilian jiu jitsu and continue to progress and learn through this beautiful Journey.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 4/6/24 at 12:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.
Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 11:30 am. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 12:00 pm.
