About this Event
Join Barry University and South Florida People of Color for an International Women’s Day event that weaves together film, reflection, and justice-centered dialogue. We’ll screen Girl Rising, a groundbreaking documentary that shares the stories of nine girls from around the world whose courage and determination show how education can transform lives and communities.
After the film, SFPoC facilitators will guide an experiential learning activity that invites participants to connect the girls’ stories to our own local context, examine how gender and race shape access to education and opportunity, and imagine concrete steps we can take toward greater equity. Together, we will explore what it means to “learn, reflect, and rise” in solidarity with girls and women globally and here in South Florida.
