About this Event
Euphony Band ft. Syakirah Noble
Curated specially for Maduro, Euphony Band featuring Syakirah Noble, is an amalgamation of 4 female musicians of internationally-diverse backgrounds, yet a singular love for jazz.

KL- and Singapore-based singer, Syakirah Noble, raises her powerful and alluring voice effortlessly through time-honoured jazz standards, as well as her own brand of contemporary, bilingual music. Though still currently studying music in Manchester, Syakirah, has already amassed much experience: performing and recording in the UK; placing well in singing competitions on Singapore TV; opening at the Singapore Jazz Festivals for Grammy-winning headliners. And despite her young age, Syakirah has already sung for the President of Singapore and the King of Malaysia. Regardless of her audience, her voice is sure to captivate.

Pint-sized, but potent pianist, Rachma Lim, hails from North Sumatra. Even before earning her Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at New York City’s Queens College, Rachma had performed extensively with jazz big bands and trios; even backing internationally-touring vocalists. A recording artist and consummate stage performer, Rachma journeys comfortably through cross-over world music, as she does with her own compositions. Rachma’s passion and diligence in her craft, continues to fuel her broadening depth as a musician.

Taiwanese-born Judy Tsai, graduated with double Masters of Music degrees from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. Skilled in both classical cello and jazz double-bass, Judy is equally adept bowing Haydn, as she is laying down jazz walking-bass grooves. Though the double-bass measures larger than her diminutive self, Judy proficiently tames the “beast” and lends a solid foundation for the rest of the band, on stage, as well as in the recording studio. Audiences would hear the vast and impressive musical influences in Judy’s performance.

Veteran of the band, drummer and Berklee alumna Audrey Tang, has the distinction of being Singapore’s only female jazz drummer -- and a singing drummer too! From stadiums to intimate jazz clubs, Audrey’s 29-year global music career has seen her perform in a myriad of bands and orchestras, playing jazz, ol’ school R&B, symphonic music, Christian worship music and even Chinese Pop! Whenever Audrey plays the drums, she hopes to radiate the joy she feels to her audience.
