World Music / Latin: Widely recognized as one of the greatest conga players of all time, Giovanni Hidalgo has worked with jazz icons like Tito Puente, Dizzy Gillespie, Paul Simon, and Herbie Hancock. His trio delivers high-energy performances rooted in Latin jazz and deep improvisation. This trio features NYC-based musicians Marcio Garcia (piano) and Myles Sloniker (bass)—two prominent young voices fluent in not only jazz, but folk music from around the world.Audiences can expect to not only hear the truest expression of Afro-Cuban rhythms straight from the source, but also adventurous takes on jazz standards and Brazilian MPB, as well as original compositions from the band's members.
