Gingerbread Wonderland Returns to Norway House
Community-built holiday exhibit inspired by a beloved modern-day Norwegian tradition
Norway House invites the Greater-Twin Cities community—and beyond—to celebrate the holiday season at Gingerbread Wonderland, the annual gingerbread city exhibition in the Joan and Walter Mondale Galleri, that fills Norway House with hundreds of sweet, sugary creations. Inspired by the world-famous gingerbread city (Pepperkakebyen) of Bergen, Norway, a tradition begun in 1991, Gingerbread Wonderland at Norway House brings together bakers, artists, and families of all ages to build a magical winter village—right here in Minneapolis.
Bakers of all backgrounds and skill levels are invited to participate by creating gingerbread structures for the exhibit. To make it easy for everyone to join in, Norway House will host Community Build Days where participants can gather to design and decorate houses together—no baking required! Norway House provides gingerbread kits, frosting, and candy decorations; you bring the creativity. Join us for our Community Build Days on:
- Thursday, November 13 | 6:00pm–8:00pm
- Friday, November 14 | 1:00pm–3:00pm
- Sunday, November 16 | 1:00pm–3:00pm
Gingerbread Wonderland is open to the public from November 21, 2025, through January 3, 2026 at Norway House, located on 913 East Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis. Visitors are invited to stroll through the delicious display, spot familiar structures, pop-culture designs, and experience the joy of a Norwegian-inspired holiday tradition that connect our community to contemporary Norway. In addition, enjoy our brand-new Saga Center in the Haugo Bibliotek where you can explore connections to Norway through hands-on experiences and immersive environments. Utilizing cutting-edge interactive technology, guests will immerse themselves in Norwegian and Norwegian-American arts, business, and culture.
