Lets welcome back Giles Strong to The Old Black Cat Jazz Club. His quartet features four long established and respected musicians on the regional jazz scene: John Bradford (drums), Ian Paterson (double bass) and Pete Tanton (trumpet and flugel horn).
With inventive improvisation and interplay the Giles Strong Quartet create a unique style of acoustic chamber jazz that is match made in heaven with the complimentary, warm acoustics in our venue. Their music reflects a shared love of straight ahead jazz with a West Coast sound, playing repertoire based on original compositions and finely arranged standards.
The Old Black Cat Jazz Club meet every third Friday of the month at Seventeen Nineteen - formerly Holy Trinity Church - an award winning community venue in the heart of old Sunderland. Settle in with cabaret style seating, licenced cafe bar and the finest of company for a laid back start to your weekend.
