About this Event

Inner City Cultural Center II Presents...Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology, a fierce band of spoken word artists including the legends daughter, Gia Scott-Heron. They’re spittin’ fire and blazin’ stages on a worldwide tour with Special Guests Artists Father Amde Hamilton of The Watts Prophets, Iona Morris Jackson and Victor Orlando of The Gap Band. Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology is a brand new ground breaking theatrical production and reinterpretation of the late great poet, songwriter and musician Gil Scott-Heron.

The man Melody Maker called "The Most Dangerous Musician Alive" and many dubbed the forefather of rap music because he turned his poetry into songs and added music. His lyrics reflect the turbulence and uncertainty of our times with a satirical edge told in the tradition of oral poetry and storytelling.

Woven between reciting the timeless words of Gil Scott-Heron, these electrifying spoken word artists weave their own personal poetic journeys into the story and create a rip roaring fire.

You'll hear his words again, you'll cry and you'll laugh and your heart light will glow, you'll fight back some tears, you'll sing, you'll know lyrics you haven't heard in a long while and you'll learn about the man...the icon, the legend, Gil Scott-Heron.

Back by Popular Demand and returning home from a month-long run off-Broadway in New York City honoring Black History at the SoHo Playhouse in February 2025. The ensemble cast includes the creator of Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology and Poets Jazz House, Tuesday Conner; Conney Williams of the World Stage; Yawo Watts of Oralgasm; Lorenzo Frank from S.W.A.A.M.; ArtUs Mansoir, a Multi–Talented Entertainer, the one-and-only The ORACLE aka Denise Lyles-Cook.
