Nathan Flanders (piano) graduated from the U-M School of Music, Theater and Dance with a degree in jazz studies in 2013. He plays most often with the Neal Anderson Quintet and Washtenaw County based musicians. He is a network systems administrator at Nonprofit Enterprise at Work and works to support non-profit organizations in southeast Michigan when not playing music.Nathan Flanders will be joined by bassist, Josef Deas, a 25-year veteran of the local scene and a staple musician in the Detroit jazz legacy. Described as “one of those vital connectors” by fellow local jazz luminary Marcus Elliot, Deas has performed with virtually everyone in Southeast Michigan. Starting at age 14, he began picking up gigs and only one year later, was hired by the University of Michigan School of Music to play upright bass alongside the older students. His commitment to music and personal development is unmatched, carving out a role as a leader among his peers.
