The Ghost Walk Returns to East Hill Cemetery
Thursday-Saturday, October 2-4: Tours leave the Salem Museum every 15 minutes from 6 pm to 8 pm. There will be a sign language interpreted tour each evening on the 6 pm tour.
East Hill Cemetery comes alive after dark just once a year! Tour the historic graveyard and meet notable characters from Salem’s past. “Ghosts” will share captivating tales of fascinating characters from various periods of Salem’s rich history, spanning over 200 years. Each character has made an impact, whether big or small, and some stories are simply delightful. Guests will also discover surprising narratives about some of the region's most historic locations - places they may encounter in their daily lives.
These walking tours are family-friendly, fun and informative, but not scary. Ghost Walk 2024 completely sold out!
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students of any age, and free for children three and younger. Ticket tip! The 6:15, 6:45, 7:15, and 7:45 tours tend to be less crowded. Get your tickets now to reserve your preferred tour time.
Good walking shoes are recommended, and bring a flashlight for later tours. In case of rain, the event will be held inside the Museum.

2025 marks the Ghost Walk’s 27th year and all proceeds benefit the Salem Museum. The event is dedicated to the memory of Willie Robertson, who was much beloved Ghost Walk character for many years.

Arrival and Check In
Info: Buying tickets in advance is recommended as tours sell out. Plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time to park and check in. There is free parking in the Museum's lot, the pickleball courts' lot, and the Oakey field lot. Check in at the front desk of the Salem Museum.

Tours and Tour Groups
Info: Tours depart the Museum every 15 minutes from 6 pm to 8 pm. Don't try to go directly to the cemetery! The 6 pm tours will include a sign language interpreter. Tours last about an hour and fifteen minutes. Each tour time will have a tour leader leading a maximum of about 25 participants. A police officer will be parked on Main St so that guests can cross the street safely. Only cross with the police officer. Wheelchairs can be accommodated but it might be good to call ahead first: 540-389-6760.

In the Cemetery
Info: Please stay on the paved paths and stay with your tour leader. No running, screaming, or “haunted house” behavior. The 6 pm tour will leave in the daylight and return to the Museum at about sunset. It will just get darker from there! Bringing a flashlight is recommended. The walk is about a half mile, up and down hill, but with lots of stops along the way. Wear comfortable walking shoes. The tour will return to the Museum. You are welcome to check out our Gift Shop before departing!
