In November of 1876, a young boy was fishing in the Avon River near the Waterloo Street bridge when he made a startling discovery… he found a dead body floating in the river. Not only was it a dead body, but the body was missing its head! For many years, this led to legends about the headless ghost that strolled the banks of the river and it is Stratford’s earliest known ghost story. The stories however are based on fact. Who was the dead man in the river? How did he end up there? And why was he missing his head? Come on our ghost walk to find out!
Our next ghost tour takes place on Friday April 11th at 8 p.m. We take you on a 1-hour long, 1.5 km stroll where you will hear stories about the darker side of Stratford’s history.
Tickets are $16 per person and advance reservations are required. Tickets can be purchased on our website: stratfordwalkingtours.ca.
