Paranormal Activity
Antwerp Mansion is a well known haunted location which appears to have an energy of its own. Many believe that the mansion is full of sorrowful energy that has been brought about by four tragic deaths and several unfortunate occurrences at the mansion. These are recorded as follows:
1892 the death of Leo Pinto aged 6 months (died in the Forgotten Bedroom).
1910 the death of Sophie Jeanne Pinto aged 57 (died in the red bedroom).
1922 the death of Joaquim Pinto Leite, aged 72 (died near the ballroom).
1941 – 1945 several deaths of club members in WW2.
1950’s fire in the red bedroom.
1960’s a child fell through the skylight aged between 7-10, they died at the bottom of the stairs.
2008 a fire in the servants wing.
With all of these unfortunate activities it is believed that the past has left an imprint on the present and souls from the past still have their stories to tell the living.
Activity dating back to the 1970’s were reported when a rocking chair was often seen moving of it own accord was the first sighting of a long history of paranormal occurrences. Staff that worked in the building when it was a Nightclub reported strange noises and the feeling of being watched. On numerous occasions a shadow person is reportedly seen walking the full length of the building from the blue room to the end of the ballroom.
A striking feature of the building and also the location of paranormal activity is the skylight on the twisting staircase within the mansion where a child was rumoured to have smashed through the window and fell to their death. Whispering and childish voices can be heard when no one is around.
Unexplained flashes of light have been frequently reported over the years and movement within the dark rooms when unoccupied by the living.
When the mansion was a club, partygoers were said to report being pushed by unseen hands and humming can be heard when no one is around.
When visited by Most Haunted, the team reported hearing glasses smashing, someone running up the stairs and knocking and tapping.
