GG Malvern Warhammer 40k League #2!
A Warhammer 40k 10th edition league, based out of General Games Malvern with fortnightly rounds for new and experienced players, encouraging learning and developing both competitive 40k and hobby/painting skills!
We can accommodate as many players that want to join, with re-bracketed pairings and ongoing list resubmission (sounds more complicated than it is) allowing a varying set of rounds, and the rules adapting as GW inevitably rebalances the game.
Additionally, there will be an optional painting/hobby competition running alongside the gaming league, in which all participants are welcome (and encouraged) to enter!
Greg and Dalton at General Games Malvern are the League Organizers (LOs), and they should be referred to for any queries about the structure or organisation of the league, as well as any in-game rules questions not covered below.

Where:
While we encourage (and provide play space and terrain) people to play in-store at General Games Malvern (where we also run two miniature nights a week, each Tuesday and Thursday night), games can be played anywhere which suits the paired players, as long as results are reported on BCP!
Cost:
$25 per player
Sign up in-store or online:

Rounds:
Rounds will be fortnightly, which should allow plenty of time to organise to play your opponent. Results should be reported directly on BCP, and will use WTC differential scoring.
Make sure you're in the General Games Discord to organise games: https://discord.gg/fbDhXUfn
In the event a time to play can’t be organised, a draw for the round will be the default entry. However if it is only one of the players which can’t be available, please get in touch with the LOs, and a concession may be made. With four miniature nights at the store in Malvern every two weeks and table space available throughout the days, there should be plenty of opportunities to meet up to play each round.
Pairings:
The league will use a re-bracketed random system for pairings - that is, each round each player is randomly paired into someone with the same W/D/L history which they haven’t played before, with these brackets being redone each round. For the finals, the top eight players will be invited to participate in an in-store RTT (with seeded pairings) to determine final placings (they may play against players they’ve already been paired into during this event).
Pairings will be viewable on Best Coast Pairings, as well as posted in the General Games Discord each round.
Armies:
Armies will be 2000pts, following all standard systems allowed within Warhammer 40,000 10th edition matched play, throughout the league. For clarification on rules and strange interactions we will be using the WTC FAQs (both core rules and army specific), at the discretion of the LOs.
Models are expected to be WYSIWYG (conversions and kit bashes are encouraged, but please check with a LO prior to the league round regarding any major differences in footprint/size).
Base sizes must be accurate (according to WTC standard), or have the accurate base size visible on a larger base.
Models should be painted to a minimum standard in order to be played with in this league.
A note on list comp: Your lists are subject to change across the league, and steps have been taken to ensure no-one will know who their opponents are ahead of list submission (to avoid the possibility of list tailoring), so it is in your best interest to build a balanced and competitive list to play in the league. We’re not applying list comp for it, to allow people to express skill in all parts of the game, including list construction.
List Submission:
As this is an ongoing league, and the rules and balance of the game will be subject to change, players will select a faction to play at the start of the league, but may resubmit their lists at the beginning of each round before pairings are known. This allows players to try different units, learn from games, and expand their experience across the game.
Lists are to be submitted via Best Coast Pairings by the Monday prior to the beginning of each round. Lists on BCP will be made editable for the final Sunday and Monday of each round.
Pairings will only be made public after this time, and any lists not resubmitted will remain the same. Lists will be viewable on BCP, and each player is expected to be able to show and explain their list to an opponent prior to each game.
Terrain:
While there is no standard terrain pack in use for this league, as the LOs want players to be able to make do with terrain anywhere they end up playing, a good recommendation for competitive terrain is to emulate the WTC or similar style of terrain pack. If players would like when playing instore they may ask Dalton to set up a table for them based on these using the instore sets.
Missions:
Missions will be drawn from the Pariah Nexus Tournament Pack and revealed alongside pairings each round. For scoring the Tabletop Battles app is a handy tool to have around, especially if you don’t have a set of Pariah Nexus cards.
Best Painted/Hobby Award:
A completely optional part of the league will be a painting/hobby competition run alongside it - simply purchase a model/unit in store for the army you’re playing in the league, and let the person at the register know that’s your entry for the hobby competition. We’ll note it down, then during the final round of the league, bring that (now finished) unit into the store, and during the Finals RTT the staff will vote on which one is the best (plus your minis will be on display for everyone to admire)!
