Workshop for Parents: This is a two part workshop series designed to give parents and adolescents the important mindset skills that will help them optimize this vital stage of development. Part 1 is for you, the parent. Part 2 is for your children.Ben Gettinger is a youth mentor, teaching expressive arts, boys communication, and leadership programs at the OCYL. He is also a yoga teacher, holistic healer, substitute teacher and soon-to-be stepfather of two teens himself! As a certified Teen Life Coach, Ben has combined his knowledge of adolescent development along with his years of guiding adults through personal transformation to present this workshop.
The teenage years are one of the most important times of development for your child, but unfortunately many parents fall victim to the common belief that it is just a heavy and difficult stage that needs to be endured. The truth could not be further from this widespread misconception! These years can be an inspiring opportunity for growth and transformation when approached through the right lens. Both parent and teen can develop habits and awareness skill-sets that create a path toward living a fulfilling life through the teen years and beyond! You do not have to register for both classes at the time of registration.
In this workshop Ben is going to provide knowledge, practices, and tools that will help you and your teen excel and flourish during this bewildering, yet amazing period of transformation and expansion. You will dismantle myths about the teenage mind, understand exactly what is going on during this crucial period of brain development and learn to spot common mistakes that many parents make. You will learn self-development and awareness practices that have the ability to make a healthy and lasting impact for your whole family. It will be informational, productive and fun!
