FREE EVENT: GETTING DRESSED WITH JANE AUSTENTraralgon Library and Service Centre: Wednesday 8 October from 6pm
To mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Jane Austen, one of the most popular and adored authors of the 19th Century, we are delighted to welcome Lise Rodgers who will perform her live show ‘Getting Dressed with Jane Austen’ at the Traralgon Library. The performance draws on the letters of Jane, particularly to her elder sister Cassandra, with whom she shared a love of fashion. Using the letters, some historical background and opinions of the day, you will step through the doors of a Georgian wardrobe, to a world of white muslin, satin and silk and spend an hour or so getting dressed with Jane – from the underwear to the outerwear and beyond!
Join fellow Jane Austen lovers and enjoy a light evening supper of cakes and slices.
This event is part of Latrobe City’s Positive Ageing Festival but is open to all ages. Bookings are preferred. Please book for each person attending. Clicking 'going' or 'interested' does not constitute a booking.
Note: Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity.
