About this Event
This holiday season Music Mends Minds brings joy, music and memory to the community with a special FREE concert by The World Famous 5th Dementia Band.
Composed of seniors living with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other cognitive challenges the band will perform holiday classics and original songs on Saturday, December 6 at 2 PM at the Brentwood Presbyterian Church.
"Music can restore joy and connection, even in the face of memory loss," says Carol Rosenstein, founder of Music Mends Minds. Our members shine on stage proving that creativity and spirit never fade."
The performance is part of Music Mends Minds mission to use music as a tool for engagement, social connection and cognitive support. Audiences can expect an uplifting afternoon of festive music and inspiring stories.
Refreshments hosted by Brentwood Presbyterian Church will be held directly after the concert, including an ice cream/gelato vendor who will introduce high-protein, low-sugar gelato.
Free parking in church lot and across Bundy at Comerica Bank.
MMM creates musical support groups for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and other neurological disorders. This support has taken the form of 50 bands, drum circles, and other music groups in over 10 countries and is still growing. Our goal is to restore the rhythm of life, reconnecting and empowering all individuals and communities suffering from neurodegenerative diseases and more through music.
